sophomore reunion

The Moreau program is establishing a four-year curricular and co-curricular pathway through which students may routinely engage in the study and practice of living well. These events and experiences serve to complement and reinforce the required First-year Seminar and Senior Capstone courses.

The first of these is the Moreau Sophomore Reunion, in which sophomore students are invited to reconvene with their Moreau FYS classmates and instructor. The Reunion seeks to embolden and celebrate the belief that we best pursue living well in community. The priority is for students to reconnect with their peers. In doing so, they may revisit discussions and readings from the Moreau FYS course and imagine how they might continue to practice disciplined attention and respond accordingly as sophomores at Notre Dame.

The 2026 Moreau Sophomore Reunion takes place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 5-6p on Library Lawn.

All sophomore students are warmly invited to celebrate the pursuit of living well in community over ice cream and casual conversation.

All attendees of the Moreau Sophomore Reunion receive a copy of a custom commonplace book. Similar to the First-Year Seminar commonplace book, this custom version is likewise a repository for students' thoughts, but the material inscribed is self-chosen and may arise from any source. Students might attempt traditional commonplacing by creating subject headings and gradually adding quotations from various sources along with their evaluation of those ideas. Or students can compose a journal that captures poignant aspects of their Notre Dame experience and their attempts to make sense of those experiences. Either use of this book should help students rest from digital distractions and cultivate disciplined attention that is vital to understanding oneself as beloved and called to love others.
